Last year, at this time, we were going crazy with joy as it was my sister’s wedding day – 18th of December. Yes!!! it’s her anniversary as I publish the most requested and awaited blog of #WMSW this year!!!

I cannot believe that it has been a year to this “crazy in love” beautiful couple and our families being together! 🙂 *touchwood*

So before, I jump on to reminiscing her wedding outfits as an ode to today, you should know that when you combine a crazy ethnic lover + shopaholic + a bride-to-be, the bridesmaids are in for a gala time! 😛 Her commitment and excitement to source the most amazing wedding attires for each function took us to the bylanes of Mumbai, Nashik, and Coorg!!! ❤

Ankita planned to wear mostly lehengas, light gowns, and sarees and managed to distinguish each on the basis ethnic work and prints! So we had everything from a leheriya print to banarasi zari work to banana silk!!!

Pre Wedding Shoot

“You’ve gotta dance like there’s nobody watching,
Love like you’ll never be hurt,
Sing like there’s nobody listening,
And live like it’s heaven on earth.” 

These two are crazy lovebirds who have been each other’s best friends since forever! Adding to that, they are always having their own laughing riots, dancing their hearts out (if not hogging on food and sangrias) and walking in the rain followed by endless cups of chai/coffee! 🙂 So the pre-wedding shoot had to be pictures that covered these beautiful moments which make Ankita-Aniruddha our “Anki and Ani”! 😀

Mehendi

It was the first function of the wedding! We planned it to be a daytime function and did it on the terrace of the “shaadi wala ghar”. Since this one was panned for a pleasant December morning, Ankita wanted to wear a blend of bright colors such as pink and red and complement it with flower jewellery!

Sangeet/Ring Ceremony

The evening was dedicated to the Sangeet function along with a small ring ceremony! There were a series of things lined up – tilak, exchanging the rings, dance performances, and DJ!!! 😀 So her idea was to have a golden ‘bling’ lehenga with a lot of flare! She received hell lot of compliments that day for accessorizing it well with a custom-made bottle-green stone and kundan necklace as it added a very rich contrast to the whole outfit.

Jewellery – Crawford Market (We went to a local shop who had a collection of stones, gems and beads only! There are many of them in the lane and you can choose as per your interest and order for a custom-made piece. The price you pay here will be much lesser as compared to retail outlets!)

Evening Get Together hosted by the in-laws 

Aniruddha’s family is the sweetest bunch of people and they hosted a get-together/family sangeet function! The evening was filled with family members singing beautifully, couple quizzes and games and lots of “zingaaaaat” jamming! 😀 For this, my sister chose a readymade gown with some heavy work on the upper part. She dolled up well by keeping less focus on the accesories and letting herself loose with a comfy yet chic gown!

Satyanrayan Pooja and Haldi

These two functions were a homely affair and both required sarees as mandatory outfits.

For the morning Satyanarayan Pooja, she wore a Coorg Silk Saree which is made from the banana leaf fibers that mimics real silk; giving it the name “Banana Silk” or “Vegan Saree’.

For the haldi she bought a yellow chiffon saree from a local outlet in Dadar, Mumbai. Since Haldi is a “similar to Holi” affair at our place, we didn’t spend much on this one and sourced a simple saree which could be disposed of later with less heartache! 😛

Wedding

Part 1 – 

Our family is from Madhya Pradesh but we decided a Maharashtrian based wedding for our Rajput bride! It was so amazing and enthralling for all of us! We were all jumping up and down the stage to witness the rituals in person and clicking tons of pictures/videos to always cherish this beautiful day!

For the wedding rituals, she had to wear a yellow color saree! Dadar being a hub for Maharashtrian based clothing and jewellery shop was our final choice! We spent days in the hustle bustle of Dadar hunting for the perfect wedding outfit and traditional accessories like nath, mala, veni etc. Its a one-stop destination for wedding shopping at reasonable prices! ❤

Part 2- 

And then, just like that, they were officially hitched forever!!!! 😀

Then we had the “ashirwad” ceremony and a photo shoot. One month prior to the wedding, my sister, mummy and her in-laws went to Nashik. A little away from Nashik is a place called Yeola which is known for its rich and authentic collection of paithani, various silk sarees, and wedding collection. There are various shops lined up next to each other specializing in such outfits. This is where she chose her second outfit for the wedding and for a few other rituals.

Evening Reception

We had two reception ceremonies to officially meet and greet all our extended family members and friends.  🙂 For both occasions, she chose red colored outfits.

Reception 1 – She wore a rich Banarasi Lehenga dyed in red and crafted with golden work.

Reception 2 – She wore a light velvet maroon saree with intricate golden zari work.

This brings us to the end of Wedding Series blog! 🙂

Writing this was like taking a trip down the memory lane of their marriage! ❤ Wow..feels like yesterday!!!! This day, last year my sister and jiju were truly the most beautiful couple (and they still continue to inspire me with couple goals ❤ ). And yes, as important as wedding outfits can be, but it was more than that during their wedding – their excitement, love, and positivity just made all of us feel very content and overwhelmed for them! It just felt perfect! 🙂
